RECIPE #1 – Apple Banana Puree for baby

Ingredients: for Apple Banana Puree
Apple – half ( peeled and chopped )
Water – 1 cup ( or 250 ml )
Banana – half ( ripe )

Method:
Step 1) Peel and chop the apple. Add into a sauce pan. Pour water. Cover the pan and bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce to low and cook for 10 minutes. Let it cool completely.

Step 2) Add the cooked apple into a blender/ mixie. Add half of ripe banana pieces. Grind/blend for 30 seconds. Pour into baby’s bowl and feed.

RECIPE #2 – Avocado Banana Puree for baby

Ingredients: for Avocado Banana Puree
Avocado – half ( ripe and mushy )
Banana – half ( ripe )

Method:
Step 1) Take half of ripe and mushy Avocado. Scoop the Avocado flesh into a bowl. Mash well with a spoon. Add ripe banana pieces and mash well. Mix together and feed.

( My baby eats half of medium-sized Avocado at 6 months )

RECIPE #3 – Pear Banana Puree for baby

Ingredients: for Pear Banana Puree
Pear – 1 ( peeled and chopped )
Water – 1 cup ( or 250 ml )
Banana – half ( ripe)

Method:
Step 1) Peel and chop the pear. Add into a sauce pan. Pour water. Cover the pan and bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce to low and cook for 10 minutes. Let it cool completely.

Step 2) Add the cooked pear into a blender/ mixie. Add half of ripe banana pieces. Grind/blend for 30 seconds. Pour into baby’s bowl and feed.

Oats Banana Breakfast Porridge for baby

Ingredients: ( for oats banana porridge for baby )

Oats – 1/4 cup ( or 60 gms )
Water – 1 cup ( or 250 ml )
Banana – half ( ripe)

Method:

Step 1) Into a sauce pan, add the oats, water and heat on high. Once it starts boiling, reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes. Turn off heat. Let it cool completely before grinding.

Step 2) Add the cooked oat porridge into a blender/grinder. Add half ripe banana and grind/blend for 30 seconds.

Pour into baby’s bowl and feed.

How much to feed:
6 months baby = 2 tsp – 1 tbsp
7 months baby = 2 – 3 tbsp ( 1/4 cup )
8 months baby = 1/2 cup

3 Baby food (Baby’s first week food)

Hi all :), These are the foods that I introduced for my baby girl at 5 months and 12 days. Always look for allergy signs when introducing new foods.



( Day 1, 2, 3 ) Recipe #1 – Rice porridge for baby

rice – 1 cup ( 250 gms ) ( I used par-boiled rice )

Method:
Step 1) Wash the rice and strain using a colander.

Step 2) Heat a big pan and roast the rice until dry and crisp. ( takes 3 – 5 minutes )

Step 3) Add it onto a plate and let it cool completely before grinding.

Step 4) Grind to a fine powder ( If the grinder/mixie is small, grind in batches. ) Add the ground powder to an airtight container. If the rice powder bowl is warm to touch, let it cool completely before closing with a lid. Store in cupboard / pantry and use up to 2 months.

Step 5) To prepare porridge:
Take a small sauce pan, add 2 tsp rice powder, 1 cup water ( 220 ml ) and bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce to low and cook for 12 – 15 minutes until the rice is cooked.
Pour into a bowl and feed when slightly warm.

   

( Day 4, 5 ) Recipe #2 – Carrot puree for baby

carrot – half ( peeled & chopped )
water – 1 cup ( 200 ml )

Method:
Step 1) Take a sauce pan, add the carrot and water. Bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce to low and cook for 10 – 12 minutes. let it cool.

Step 2) Grind to a smooth puree and feed baby.
Note: The puree must be smooth and easy-to-swallow consistency.


( Day 6, 7 ) Recipe #3 – Sweet potato puree for baby

sweet potato – half cup ( or 100 gms ) ( peeled & chopped )
water – 1 cup ( 200 ml )

Method:
Step 1) Take a sauce pan, add the sweet potato and water. Bring it to a boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce to low and cook for 10 – 12 minutes. let it cool.

Step 2) Grind to a smooth puree and feed baby.
Note: The puree must be smooth and easy-to-swallow consistency.

Ragi porridge for 6 – 12 months baby

Ingredients:

Ragi ( whole ) – 1/4 cup or 60 gms
water – 1 cup or 250 ml
banana – 1 tbsp ( mashed )

Method:

Step 1) Wash ragi 3 – 4 times and drain the water. Cover and let it soak 5 hours or overnight

Step 2) Discard the water. Grind with 1/2 cup water ( 125 ml ) and filter it into a sauce pan. Add the leftover in the filter to the blender, add 1/2 cup water ( 125 ml ) and grind again. Filter it to the same sauce pan. Ragi milk is ready.

Step 3) Heat the ragi milk on medium-low heat. keep stirring to prevent scorching at the bottom of the pan. It will start thickening, be careful from this time, as this will quickly thicken. Keep stirring and once it comes together like a thick paste, turn off the heat. Mix for 20 seconds.

Place into a bowl. Let it cool before feeding.

Tip:
If too thick, add some boiled & cooled water. Make it to a swallowable consistency for baby.

How much to feed:
For 6 months baby = 1 – 2 tsp starting week ( later, 1 tbsp )
For 7 months baby = 2 tbsp or 1/4 cup
For 8 & 9 months baby = 1/2 cup
For 10 – 12 months baby = 3/4 cup
For 1 year olds = 1 cup ( with little raw sugar or jaggery )

Oats cereal & porridge recipe ( for 6 – 8 months baby )


Ingredients:
( for oats cereal )

Oats – 1 cup ( 250 gms )

Ingredients: ( for oats porridge )
Oats cereal – 2 tsp
water – 3/4 cup ( 180 ml )

How much to serve:
for 6+ months baby – 2 tsp ( starting week).. later 2 tbsp.
for 7+ months baby – 1/4 cup ( or 3 tbsp )
for 8+ months baby – 1/3 cup

Method:

Step 1) Add the oats into a dry grinder and pulse until fine. Add into an airtight container and use up to 1 month

Step 2) To make porridge:

  • Into a sauce pan, add 3/4 cup water and 2 tsp oat cereal. Mix well
  • Heat on high and bring it to a boil ( keep stirring to prevent scorching )
  • Once it starts boiling, reduce to low and cook for 1 minute. ( keep stirring )
  • Remove from heat and pour into a bowl. Serve when warm

note: If your baby refuses to eat the plain oats porridge, add a tbsp. of mashed banana, mix and serve

Ragi & date porridge recipe 6 months baby food

Ragi & Dates porridge recipe ( for 6 – 12 months baby ) ( finger millet & date porridge for 6+ months baby )

 

Ingredients: ( for ragi dates porridge )

for 6 – 8 months baby:
ragi flour ( finger millet powder ) – 1 tbsp.
date – half ( small ) ( deseeded & chopped )
water – 1/2 cup ( 120 ml )

for 9 – 12 months baby:
ragi flour ( finger millet powder ) – 2 tbsp.
date – 1 ( small ) ( deseeded & chopped )
water – 3/4 cup ( 200 ml )

Method:

Step 1) Into a saucepan, add little water and ragi flour. Mix well. Pour remaining water, finely chopped dates and mix well.

Step 2) Heat on high and bring it to a boil. ( keep stirring to prevent scorching at the bottom of the pan )

Step 3) Once it starts boiling, reduce to low and cook for 1 minute.

Step 4) Remove pan from heat. Mash the date pieces when hot. Pour into a bowl and serve when warm. ( note: this will thicken as it cools down. If too thick, add some boiled and cooled to water to get a puree like consistency )

How much to serve:
for 6 months baby – 1 tbsp ( starting week).. later 2 tbsp.
for 7 months baby – 1/4 cup ( or 3 tbsp )
for 8 – 9 months baby – 1/3 cup ( 4 – 5 tbsp )
for 10 -12 months baby – 1/2 cup
