Just like Egg Puff Recipe
This puff recipe doesn’t need a puff pastry to start with…no thawing or rolling required !!so, one step got easy for you ;)… but this is JUST LIKE EGG PUFF or even BETTER !! and it just takes 15 minutes to make this hooo hot delicious puffs !… the secret follows…
Ingredients: ( for 2 puffs )
2 medium / 1 big Onion ( preferably ‘RED’ )
1 big tomato ( or 2 medium size)
2 boiled eggs
turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
chilli powder – 1/2 tsp (more if u like hot hot ;)..
coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
salt – 1/2 tsp (or to taste)
water – 1 tbsp
oil – 1 tbsp
and for the puff ??????????? see step 7 ;)..
Method :
Step 1) Slice the onions, chop the tomato and boil the eggs..
Step 2) Heat a pan, pour oil and saute the sliced onions until it starts changing color (to a hint of orange….not brown)
Step 3) Add the chopped tomato and cook on same heat for 2 – 3 minutes until it becomes super soft ..
Step 4) Turn the heat to low and add the spice powders…turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder and salt to taste…mix on low for 30 sec..
Step 5) Pour a tbsp of water and mix on medium heat for 2 minutes until the water is almost evaporated (not dry)…and turn off the heat.
Step 6) Preheat your Oven to 180 C / 350 F. Peel the boiled eggs and cut one into half (lengthwise)
Step 7) Here comes the secret puff !! …You need 2 Big / Jumbo Croissants :D… Split the Croissant into 2 by cutting 90% from the bulged-outer-side towards inside and keeping the other side intact (don’t cut fully into 2 separate pieces…one side should be intact )
Step 8) Take one halved croissant and open it. Place 2 tbsp of onion mixture and place the halved boiled eggs (1 egg per croissant) and repeat with the rest.
Step 9) Place the filled croissant-puff on a tray lined with foil and bake at 180C / 350F
for 3 – 4 minutes only ( Please check after 3 minutes as they can brown/burn quickly.. )
Step 10) Once the top is crisp to touch, take out from the Oven and serve the hot-hot puff immediately !…
note–> for stovetop method: First, be ready with the boiled eggs and onion-stir fry(should be hot). Heat a skillet on medium heat and toast the croissant on both sides (cut side first and outer sides at last)…take out and immediately place the onion mixture and halved eggs and serve…
I prefer the oven method as it is JUST LIKE EGG PUFF ;)…
